The LIA and other local organizations successfully lobbied the Ohio legislature to allocate funds to restore the Prairie Creek Treatment Train rock wall barrier, which has been deteriorating.
Senate President Matt Huffman’s office recently sent confirmation that House Bill 2 – a capital budget bill signed by Gov. DeWine – allocates $2.6 million for Prairie Creek as part of a $9.55 million line item for ODNR operations.
These funds are needed to restore the barrier and maintain functionality at the Prairie Creek Treatment Train, which removes the runoff nutrients that contribute to algal blooms from Prairie Creek’s waters before they enter Grand Lake St. Marys.
