Harmon’s Landing Wetland Project Awarded $1.115 Million Grant

06/25/2026

The Lake Restoration Commission has secured an ODNR H2Ohio grant to fund wetland construction at Harmon’s Landing.

Mercer County Ag & Natural Resources Director Theresa Dirksen applied for the grant, which will provide $1.115 million to:

  • Construct 15-20 acres of open water wetland
  • Preserve and/or establish approximately 13 acres of forest area
  • Establish 15-20 acres of native grasses and forbs

Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2027.

The LRC is also awaiting the decision on an Ohio EPA Section 319 grant to fund the design and permitting portion of the project.

Wetlands help improve water quality by absorbing nutrients like phosphorus that contribute to algal blooms. The Lake Restoration Commission is a coalition of local organizations working together to restore Grand Lake, including the Lake Improvement Association.
