Sunset Beach Within State Safety Guidelines for July 4th Weekend

06/30/2022

Current readings at Sunset Beach show that it is well within the safety guidelines set by the State of Ohio.

We do know that weather circumstances can have an impact on water quality readings on the lake, but for the 4th of July holiday weekend, we are pleased to report that the current readings at Sunset Beach show that it is well within the safety guidelines set by the State of Ohio.

The recreational microcystin toxin threshold is set at 8 ppb by the State of Ohio.  This week the levels at Sunset Beach are just over 2 ppb.  Protocol requires that two consecutive weeks be below 8 ppb prior to removing the warning signs, which is the case at Sunset Beach.

You can look forward to a great time enjoying the brand-new handicap-accessible kayak launch, swimming and more at Sunset Beach.  Beach volleyball court, kayak, basketball and playground equipment are coming soon!

We invite you to come enjoy Grand Lake St. Marys this weekend.
