Kids Fishing Derby 2024 Recap

09/12/2024

Thank you to all the amazing volunteers!

The Lake Improvement Association is thrilled with yesterday’s turnout for our annual Kids Fishing Derby! Between students, teachers, parents, and volunteers, around 450 people enjoyed a day of fishing and treats at the fishing pond on the East Bank.

We couldn’t do it without A TON of help, and our vice president (and event organizer) Jeff Vossler wanted to make sure we extended a HUGE THANK-YOU to the following:

Pantry Pride for helping with food and supplies. We are so grateful for our locally-owned grocery store that cares about and supports our community events.

Villa Nova Drive-Thru for the use of their coolers and ice. They always help the LIA with our events.

⛺Grand Lake St. Marys State Park staffODNR management, our local wildlife officers and the St. Marys Police Department. Special thanks to Kara and Byron for their support coordinating the event at the state park!

All the amazing people who baked cookies for the event.

All the volunteers who showed up from the Grand Lake Recreation ClubSouth Shore Sportsman Club, and the Lake Improvement Association membership. They helped get ready for the approximately 450 students, aids, teachers, parents, bus drivers, and volunteers.

Dave Meyer for being Jeff’s wingman and helping pick up all the food, supplies, and equipment needed for the event.

What a great group of volunteers all working together to make this event happen! Thank you!
